At Borderlands Family Baptist Church, prayer and hospitality are not merely ministry programs—they are the heartbeat of our life together as a local congregation. In Matthew 21:13, Jesus reminds us of God's intent for His church, declaring, "My house shall be called a house of prayer." We believe that a faithful, Christ-exalting church must be thoroughly saturated in prayer, seeking the Lord’s direction, interceding for the lost, seeking the welfare of the city, and resting dependently upon His grace in all things.
Hand-in-hand with prayer is the call to Christian hospitality. Biblical hospitality reflects the heart of God, who welcomed us while we were still strangers and reconciled us through Christ. We strive to open our hearts, our church doors, and our homes to one another and to our local community. Whether welcoming first-time visitors on a Sunday morning, sharing meals together in our homes, or gathering to intercede for our neighbors and the nations, we seek to cultivate a warm, Christ-centered environment where everyone experiences the grace and love of the gospel.
How We Practice Prayer & Hospitality
- Corporate Prayer: Making it a priority to seek God’s face, intercede for our community, pray for local and global church planting, and lift up the needs of our members every time we gather together.
- Sunday Welcome & Fellowship: Greeting every person who walks through our doors with warmth, helping families get settled, and creating a comfortable space to connect before and after worship.
- Home-to-Home Fellowship: Opening our homes throughout the week for shared meals, fellowship, and casual gatherings, turning ordinary tables into places of gospel ministry.
- Serving the Community: Extending compassionate care, practical help, and prayer support to our neighbors across the borderlands region.
